The Student Success Liaison Program is an early dropout prevention program implemented through a partnership between the Renton School District and Communities In Schools of Renton (CISR) with funding from the Seattle Foundation. Academic Liaisons are placed at Dimmitt, McKnight, and Nelsen Middle Schools.
A Student Success Liaison assesses needs, coordinates services, builds partnerships and provides direct support to students exhibiting one or more Early Warning Indicators. Both school-wide services and individualized targeted services are provided in significant degrees to address the needs of these students. The Student Success Liaison Program increases the student’s ability to succeed in school, transition to high school and successfully graduate. The program is based on the understanding that we must support the whole student in a multi-faceted way in order to increase academic success and eventual graduation rates.
In the 2014-2015 school year, the Student Success Liaison Program has served over 2,000 students and their families through its targeted student services and school wide services, addressing academics, family support, mentoring, and community partnerships.
