Mentoring Program

Since 1995 Communities In Schools of Renton (CISR) Mentor Program has matched community volunteers with Renton students in grades 1-12 who may be at risk of academic failure. The school-based mentor program matches a trained adult volunteer with a child for one hour a week during the school day at specific schools within the Renton School District. Mentors interact with the child over a period of time, establishing an open and trusting relationship, encouraging the child to see school as a positive place, and supporting their academic success

Family Liaison Program

The Communities In Schools of Renton (CISR) Family Liaison Program connects Renton public school students and their families with the appropriate community resources to meet their basic needs and address issues which impact school performance. Each CISR Family Liaison functions as a school staff member and CISR site coordinator, working within the school to address the non-academic needs of students who are at-risk of school failure.

Student Success Liaison Program

The Student Success Liaison Program is an early dropout prevention program implemented through a partnership between the Renton School District and Communities In Schools of Renton (CISR). Student Success Liaisons are placed at Dimmitt, McKnight, and Nelsen Middle Schools.

Community Resources

Every year, Communities In Schools of Renton partners with many local business, corporations and organizations to collect school supplies, personal care items and household supplies to distribute to the families we serve.
